Projects Overview

Fugro Seacore has over 35 years experience as a specialist overwater marine contractor providing specialist solutions to the marine industry.  Our key skills are in marine rock drilling, large diameter piling, pile top drilling, foundation installation and jack up platform operation.  We design, fabricate and operate all our own equipment and manage projects worldwide.  Below is a list of our main service areas:

  • Shah Deniz, Baku

    The Shah Deniz gas field project in the Caspian Sea, near Baku Azerbaijan, involved a pre-drill construction phase consisting of the placement of a 15 slot, 42 tonne, seabed guide template and installation of 15 nr 42” (1067mm) diameter pre-conductor well casings, through the template, 27m into the seabed, all in 103m water depth.
  • Tahiti

    Fugro Seacore were awarded the contract in 2005 by the Natural Environmental Research Council, to perform a marine site investigation of the seabed at three offshore locations around the coast of the French Polynesian island of Tahiti in the South Pacific Ocean.
  • South Atlantic Site Investigation

  • Chicago USA

    The City of Chicago's Department of Water needed a site investigaton to help evaluate their proposed Jardine fresh water intake tunnel project. Designed by consulting engineer Montgomery Watson Harza, the new tunnel extends beneath Lake Mitchigan and up to 15.2 km beyond the Chicago shoreline.
  • Shaldril Coring, Antarctic

    Fugro Seacore carried out a scientific expedition involving the collection and examination of core samples on the Antartic Peninsula to evaluate climate change.
  • BP Valhall Anchor Pile Remediation

    In response to an urgent request from BP Norway, Fugro Seacore successfully completed a unique and challenging anchor pile remediation drilling works for a new four-legged water injection jacket, standing in 76m of water in the Valhall Field, part of the Norwegian Sector of the North Sea.
  • Thames Tideway Tunnel Project

    The Thames Tideway Tunnel Project was for the installation of a 32km long sewer, deep beneath London, to significantly reduce levels of sewage entering the River Thames. Fugro Seacore secured the exploratory drilling and sampling works for £3.7M to complete 85 boreholes.
  • Flamanville Outfall Installation

    As part of EDF’s new European Pressure Reactor (EPR) Flamanville 3 off the Normandy coast, Soletanche Bachy France (SBF) has been contracted by EDF to construct the underground water cooling outlet works consisting of 160m deep x 5m diameter land shaft, 63m deep x 5.85m diameter marine shaft and interconnecting tunnel.
  • Kincardine Upper Forth Crossing Foundation Installations

    Fugro Seacore Ltd was contracted to install 21 nr 3m and 4m diameter reinforced concrete foundation piles up to 35m deep
  • Polperro Geotechnical Coring

    Fugro Seacore successfully completed geotechnical coring for South West Water in 2009.
  • Oyster Wave Device Installation

    Fugro Seacore recently won an exciting £2.5milion contract to install Oyster®, an innovative Wave Energy Converter for Aquamarine Power Ltd at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) wave test site 400 metres west of Orkney mainland.
  • Strangford Lough

    Fugro Seacore successfully completed installation of a world’s first Commercial tidal turbine device at Strangford Lough.
  • Heysham Harbour Linkspan Upgrade

    Fugro Seacore Limited (FSCL) was subcontracted in 2008 by Volker Stevin to assist in the installation of a replacement linkspan within Heysham Harbour.
  • San Rafael Bridge

    AGRA Foundations Inc., one of the world’s leading specialist marine and offshore construction and exploration drilling contractors, have combined their considerable expertise to successfully tackle a technically challenging major bridge foundation reinforcement project in San Francisco Bay, California.
  • Gothenburg Navigation Beacons

    Seacore has successfully used a combination of reverse circulation drilling and vibratory pile driving techniques, in conjunction with novel and versatile pile handling equipment, to install several weeks ahead of programme, tubular steel monopiles in extremely variable sea bed conditions at the Swedish Port of Gothenburg.
  • Seaflow Project Lynmouth, N Devon

    The Seaflow Project represents the first phase of an R & D programme intended to develop pioneering technology for exploiting the energy of marine tidal currents.
  • Strait of Gibraltar Site Investigation

    The Strait of Gibraltar site investigation was successfully completed in June 2005. The Anglo-Norwegian joint venture combined Seacore's R100 drilling rig with Eidesvik Subsea's multi-purpose vessel Kingfisher.
  • Gunfleet Sands Offshore Windfarm Foundation Installations

    Fugro Seacore's 8 legged jack up barge Excalibur successfully completed work on the shallow water foundation installations at Gunfleet Sands Offshore wind farm in April 2009.
  • Greater Gabbard

    This £0.45 million contract involved the installation and commissioning of a meteorological mast for wind measurement in 6-8m water depth, with a 2 kn current on the Inner Gabbard Bank for Greater Gabbard Offshore Wind Limited (GGOWL) owned by Airtricity and Fluor.
  • Holyhead Terminals 3 and 4

    This project included the supply and installation of 3 additional monopile dolphins along with the structural steel and reinforced concrete pile top platforms, fendering systems, quick release hooks, access walkways and ladderways.
  • Blackfriars Bridge Site Investigation

    Fugro Seacore provided a bespoke solution to Network Rail, to carry out horizontal and sub-vertical coring at Blackfriars Bridge, on the Thames.
  • Gateway Storage

    Fugro Seacore Ltd successfully completed an exploratory drilling contract for Gateway Storage Ltd, who were developing an offshore gas storage scheme in the East Irish Sea.
  • La Reunion Site Investigation

    Fugro Seacore Ltd recently completed a challenging site investigation contract on the volcanic island of La Reunion in the Indian Ocean. Workscope comprised of over 50 drill locations including drilling for pressuremeter testing and coring at 37 individual sites along the strike length of the proposed new 13km long transport link.
  • Dutch Harbour Unalaska

    Fugro Seacore was contracted in 2007 to provide an engineering solution for installation of bridge foundations for the Dutch Harbour, Unalaska for a new highway bridge in the USA.
  • BP Clair Pile Relief Drilling

    Fugro Seacore provided intervention skirt pile relief drilling for the Clair jacket off the Shetlands in 139m of water
  • Hinkley Point Site Investigation

    EDF Energy contracted Fugro Seacore to manage and undertake a nearshore site investigation in the Bristol Channel off Hinkley Point in Somerset.
  • Killybegs Fishery Harbour Pile Installations

    Irishenco awarded the contract to Fugro Seacore to perform pile top rock socket drilling for a new quay wall at Killybegs Fishery Harbour.
  • North Antrim Outfalls

    Fugro Seacore successfully completed the last of four separate sewerage outfall pipeline schemes in the exposed and hostile coastal waters of the Irish Sea on its debut construction contract in Northern Ireland.
  • Peterhead Pile Installation

    As part of land reclamation work for Peterhead Port Authority, RJ McLeod contracted Fugro Seacore to undertake pile installation works for a new 150m long quay development.
  • Hong Kong Pile Top Drilling

    Fugro Seacore successfully drilled two large sewage outfall shafts in Hong Kong using their Teredo 40 pile top drill for the $72m sewage treatment works built by Philipp Holzman, Franki Contractors and Dreding International.
  • Bockstigen Windfarm Installation

    Fugro Seacore successfully installed five 500kW wind turbines 4km off the south western coast of Gotland in the Baltic, Sweden.
  • Lincs OWF Substation

    In January 2011 Fugro Seacore Ltd (FSCL) was awarded a £2.5m contract by Centrica Renewable Energy Ltd (CREL) to assist with the installation of the electrical substation as part of the Lincs Offshore Wind Farm.
  • Goro New Caledonia

    Fugro Seacore was contracted to carry out foundation drilling in an extremely difficult and technically challenging environment in the Bay of Prony, Southern New Caledonia. The contract required a combination of piling and specialist foundation drilling techniques to install tubular steel piles for a jetty on the foreshore.
  • Rodman Terminal Panama

    Fugro Seacore Ltd (FSCL) was contacted in early December 2009 when it was understood that Alvarado & During/Vergel & Castellanos Consortium in Panama were having difficulties with their piling works at the new Rodman Terminal site.
  • S Hook

    Fugro Seacore (FSCL) was contacted by Besix-Kier back in July 2006 to supply pile top drilling equipment to help with installing piles on a large contract in Milford Haven.
  • Vaalco Avouma

    Fugro Seacore Ltd (FSCL) was contracted by to install piles for a new jacket platform installation in the Avouma Field, located offshore Port Gentil in Gabon.
