Our experienced marine division has recently set a world first which involved drilling a 5.85m diameter, 64m deep marine shaft with a single drill piece and installed a 300t steel liner and 450t concrete diffuser.

Oversize Pile Handling Systems: Fugro Seacore developed the bespoke pile handling system to minimise installation times for offshore windfarm foundation piles. This technology provides rapid installation in most ground conditions, allowing controlled handling, lifting and additional hole support during overburden removal and by transferring the pile weight, torque and thrust reactions away from the jack-up barge and onto the seabed.
Marine Outfalls, Trenching & Pipelines:
Fugro Seacore is experienced in numerous trenching methods. Our jack ups provide an ideal platform for large long-reach excavators. By using a combination of land survey or GPS and linking the information to the excavator’s on-board computer, we can meet the exacting tolerances required for outfall levels and set-out. Alternatively, we have an integrated grab on Skate 4 which creates rapid deep and accurate trenches. Our comprehensive knowledge of explosives regulations means we can source and use explosives legally and relatively quickly.
Pipelaying:
Fugro Seacore has completed numerous outfall projects using a variety of techniques each adapted to suit the specific ground conditions and pipeline specifications. Our jack up rigs can be quickly modified to deploy pipe from a ‘stinger’ frame and providing welding or butt-fusion onboard, and simultaneously add ballast-collars to sink the pipe in the trench. Other successful deployments have been achieved using the ‘float and drop’ technique, where the completed length of pipe has been floated onto position and subsequently sunk by flooding with seawater and/or other additional ballast.
Shore-side Works:
In recognition of the increasing demand for ‘turnkey’ contracts Fugro Seacore can work as a main contractor and provide all required shore side civil engineering for outfall works. We can provide extremely competitive rates for the project as a whole, without compromising quality or safety. Furthermore, our ability to provide access solutions using our jack-up barges means we can operate efficiently in the most problematic locations, and get men and materials to site safely, in places inaccessible to most plant.
